Common questions

I can't hear the cue tones

Check that Cue tones is on in Settings, or on the technique before you press Begin, and that your volume is up. Cue tones play even with the ring/silent switch on silent.

Binaural tones sound like a single pulse

Binaural tones need stereo headphones: a slightly different note goes to each ear. Through a speaker they mix into one, which is monaural. On a speaker, try Isochronic or Monaural instead. Settings › Tone modes explains the difference.

Tones stop when I play music, or music stops when I play tones

In a tone's Playback settings, choose Device audio to mix with other apps' sound. Primary takes over playback and gives you Lock Screen controls.

Reminders don't arrive

Turn Reminders on in Settings › Reminders and allow notifications when asked. If you declined, turn notifications on for Cranial in the iPhone Settings app. A reminder you've already done that day isn't sent.

A session stops when I lower my wrist

Cranial keeps a session going with your wrist down. If a session was interrupted, open Cranial again and it picks back up. Haptics follow the Haptics setting in the watch app's settings.

How do I add a widget?

Touch and hold your Home Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and choose Cranial. There are four: Breathe Now, Tones, Favorites and Goals, in small, medium and large sizes.

Is Cranial a medical app?

No. Cranial is for general wellness and relaxation, and doesn't diagnose or treat any condition. Some techniques involve breath holds or fast breathing: read the safety note in the app first, never practise them in water, while driving or standing, and talk to a doctor if you have a health concern.
